The daughter of Bud and June Christen, Carol Scheu grew up on Long Island, graduating from Smithtown Central High School in 1972. On the 20th of August in that same year, Carol and ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ were married at Calvary Lutheran Church, Hauppauge (Long Island). With Rich, Carol lived for 4 years in central Pennsylvania while Rich attended seminary. While there, Carol was the assistant manager of the Gettysburg Fabric Center and waited on such notable residents as Mamie Eisenhower, the wife of President Dwight Eisenhower. When Pastor Rich accepted a call to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Lansingburgh, Carol happily "came along for the ride" - and what a ride it has been. Carol worked for 2 years at St. Paul's Lutheran Church's day care center (Albany) and then at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception's day care center as a head teacher (in the old Cathedral Academy Elementary School) (Albany). When Prince of Peace began it's own Day Care Center (P.O.P.'s Christian Day Care Center), Carol became the head teacher at that program. In 1998, together with Bonnie Hunziker, Carol purchased the Day Care program now known as POPS Christian Day Care Center. The Center continues its close personal relationship with the congregation. Carol continues as the head teacher and assistant director of our programs. Carol is incredibly talented in crafts, sewing and is a wonderful cook and an incredible mom! |
